If the Bible isn’t what we were taught,
what is it?
Leaving evangelicalism is tough, but it can be even tougher when you’ve got a lot of questions, especially about the text upon which your faith was based. Does it even matter anymore? If it’s not the Word of God, can it be trusted? Is it okay to just not read it anymore? (Spoiler: It is.)
Our brand new digital course “Making Sense of the Bible Post-Deconstruction” will be a safe place to ask questions, learn more about the history of this complicated text, and dialogue with others exvangelicals about the experience of letting go of a black-and-white framework in favor of a more nuanced, loving one. What You’ll Get from the Course
Context
Most of us are only taught to read the Bible, we’re not actually taught about the Bible—who wrote what, how it was compiled, why other texts were excluded, why other denominations have different texts—and that leads to a lot of confusion. We’ll look at it all, and honestly consider the ramifications of what we find.
Compassion
If you’re like us, the instant you started asking questions about the Bible, you were reprimanded, shamed, and told you were questioning God himself. You won’t find that here. No question is off-limits, and we won’t tell you what to believe. (And we definitely won’t tell you you’re going to hell!)
Community
With plenty of time built in for questions and discussion, you’ll get a chance to connect with others on a similar journey, as well as share resources and ideas.

FAQs
Will the course be recorded?
Yes, but you won’t get as much out of the course if you don’t attend live since you won’t get to ask questions or interact with other attendees. That’s why we highly encourage you to attend live if at all possible. The recordings will be available only for a few weeks afterward, then they will disappear.
Will you be doing this course again in the future?
We may, but it will depend on many things, so we highly recommend joining this one if possible.
I’m already a patron/donor, how do I join the course?
In early July, we will send a registration form to all donors and patrons. Once you have registered, we will email you the Zoom link.
What if I have to miss a session?
We will be recording each session for this purpose, but you will only have a few weeks afterward to watch each session before they disappear.
